RR&GC proudly announces, with the help of many people, a new Archery site course will be opening on Father's Day weekend.
The Archery site course will be located 60 yards off the Sporting Clays parking lot. Check in for Archery will be done at the Sporting Clays office.
The Archery site consists of 5 different stations, each has 2 shooting positions and 3 to 6 targets. Targets range from 10 to 100 yards away. All targets are bags(21) all the time or 3D(4) the first weekend of the month so no broadheads are allowed. Broadheads would require specific foam targets that we don't have. While the bags are rated for crossbows our layout is not. We could have special crossbow times and make adjustments if there is any interest.
With archery shooters coming out we are hoping to increase our hours and be open either earlier or later in the day by having more volunteers to open and close. One of this courses attractions is that you are not standing inside on a precisely measured course.
Wind, sunlight, temperatures, elevation, obstructions are all factors. We hope to add sun angles and darker shadows to our differences with the later hours. Ideally our evening hours would coincide with ladies night at rifle/pistol so 5 till 7 or 8pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings. Visit our Whats Happening page!
This project is being provided by volunteers. Options of funding through advertising and sponsorship are more than welcome. Feel free to be a part of this great project that will add another excellent feature to Redmond Rod & Gun Club. Future plans include a 90 meter/100 yard competition course with 5 shoot positions which can also be used for youth training, and a true walk through 3D course.
Will keep you posted on our progress.
